CardPrepAI is an AI-powered service. This page explains what AI does, what it doesn't do, and how to interpret its output.
1. What the AI does
Our system uses computer vision and large language models to:
- Identify a trading card (set, year, player, parallel) from photographs
- Estimate likely surface, edge, corner, and centering condition
- Predict a probable PSA, SGC, or CGC grade range with a confidence score
- Flag potential counterfeits or alterations
- Look up market comparable sales
- Calculate ROI math for whether grading is +EV
2. What the AI does NOT do
- It does not assign final grades. Only PSA / SGC / CGC do that.
- It does not guarantee a specific grade outcome.
- It does not authenticate cards in a legally binding way for resale.
- It does not provide investment advice. Grade-up arbitrage suggestions are informational only.
3. How to interpret confidence scores
"PSA 10 with 85% confidence" means: based on the photographs and the AI's training data, there is roughly an 85% chance the card grades PSA 10. There is a 15% chance it does not.
Always read the confidence score. Low-confidence predictions ("submit at your discretion") indicate the AI is uncertain. High-confidence predictions are still predictions, not guarantees.
4. Underlying models
We use:
- Cloudflare Workers AI for image analysis (vision, text extraction)
- Anthropic Claude (Sonnet, Haiku) for reasoning, ROI calculations, and submission-form generation
- Internal proprietary models trained on PSA Pop Reports and verified-grade auction data, used to refine predictions
5. Your data and the AI
Card images you upload are processed by these AI providers under their respective privacy terms. We do not contribute your images to shared third-party training datasets without your explicit consent. We may use aggregated, de-identified usage patterns to improve our internal predictors.
6. Right to human review
If you believe the AI's prediction was materially wrong, you can request a human review at [email protected]. We will re-examine the photographs and provide a written response within 7 business days. Pro and Concierge members receive priority review.
7. AI labeling on outputs
Every prediction, ROI calculation, submission form, and email generated by CardPrepAI is labeled as AI-generated, in compliance with CA SB 942 and the EU AI Act Article 52.
8. Errors and corrections
If the AI misidentifies a card or predicts a grade off by more than one full grade with high confidence, contact [email protected]. We will re-analyze the card free and credit your account where appropriate.
